I support Governor Carcieri with his dispute with Council 94. They negotiated and then reneged on the deal. He should have put the contract on one side of the table and a pile of pink slips (with the names filled in) on the other. Then he should have said, "Pick one."
Council 94 seems to have forgotten whose money it is. It belongs to the taxpayers!!!! Not the general assembly and not the union! The governor remembers. The taxpayers have already taken a pay cut from the tax increases that we're facing from the increase in local taxes that we're going to get as a result of the cut of state aid for the cities and towns. We don't need any more pay cuts!! Certainly not for them!

End of Summer
Well, it is almost the end of summer and I have been remiss in updating this blog. I've been busy with my life -- I've just hit the big ONE!! Yes, I'm a whole year old now! Practically an adult!
The world hasn't gotten any better for my absence from the airwaves. The RI Legislature is missing in action from dealing with the mess of a budget they left the governor with. The state employees (or their union leadership) has decided that layoffs are better than 12 unpaid furlough days. Personally, I'm for the layoffs. Of course, the legislature ducked their jobs and took the easy way out instead of focusing on the job at hand. It's like smelling around for the perfect place to poop. You can't do it without some deliberate focus on the issue at hand. The legislature just doesn't have the will to poop in the right place. They just poop anywhere.
Well, the cold weather is coming. Get your cars winterized. Don't drive so fast that you can't see small children or dogs!
