Sewer Hearing

I'm standing in front of the replica of the Mayflower. It stands as a symbol of the desire for freedom for the early settlers of our nation.
Tonight the voters of Portsmouth made themselves heard at the public hearing on sewers. Unfortunately, the town council did not publish an agenda for this hearing so they were prevented from taking a vote.
To recap the event, there were only 3 speakers who were in favor of adding sewers.
I noted that the speaker from Woodward & Curran stated that if the sewer system was not added, that the people would have to replace their sewer system "without public support". I would point out that WE are public support!!! Public support is taxes!!! Taxes come from taxpayers!!!! Taxpayers are people!!! People who own dogs!!!! You public support takes the dog treats right out of my mouth!!!
They also mentioned that the sewer systems around the state are failing -- not just Newport's. Now that the summer season is over, they are starting to bury it once more. There are still some metal plates on the roads, but it's looking a lot better for Christmas! Yee Haw!
